Your
Website and Search Engines --- Are they Friends?
If you get a web design and
are happy at it without bothering about search engines than
DO NOT read more from here on, because for you ignorance is
bliss. But, if you are bothered about getting business from
your website and are interested to know how to go about it,
than read on.
Actually having a web design,
but not having enough visitors coming to your website is a
simple waste of time, money & effort. Today, the major
source of web visitors coming to any website is from various
search engines like Google, MSN Live, Yahoo & altavista,
if your website is not listed here or indexed here than you
might not even geta trickle of visitors.
So, it is necessary to design
websites that rank higher on search engines and design web
pages that are friendly with search engines. When we say friendly
with search engines means that the web page should follow
the designing guidelines provided by search engines to get
more visitors to your website.
All the search engines today
use programs knows as crawlers or bots to index websites into
their database and then list their on their search pages.
The crawlers or the bots follow links from other web pages,
analyse the content and then index it into their database,
and showing the results as and when any user demands for it.
Make sure that you completely
avoid the use of frames in your website design. Frames tend
to confuse the search engine bots, and because of that the
search engine crawlers might skip yuor site from indexing
its contents.
Using flash for web design will
no doubt make your site very attractive, but that is no food
for search engines. Search Engines cannot index flash files,
except google, and they cannot even read what is mentioned
in the images files and flash files as well. So the flash
files aren't going to be indexed. We recommend using a combination
of HTML and flash for web designing.
Make effective use of the meta
tags like description and keyword. This are the pointers by
which the search engine crawlers will decide upon the relevancy
of your website to a particular keyword. The more relevant
the content and keyword, the better.
Stop using outdated technology
like HTML tags, instead use CSS.
